This region is especially great for golfers. These golf course communities in the Clermont/Mt. Dora area have comfortable and attractive homes, ideal locations, and plenty of amenities to keep residents busy when they’re not lining up the perfect putt.

1. Plantation at LeesburgLeesburg, FL

Low $100s – Mid $300s

Three clubhouses and two 18-hole golf courses are available at Plantation at Leesburg, one of the most popular and socially engaged 55+ communities in the area. Take a shot at both of the semi-private courses: Otter Creek and Crain’s Roost. There’s also a pro shop at the Grand Manor clubhouse as well as a restaurant and catering kitchen.

Additional athletic facilities include tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, bocce ball courts, a sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and a baseball/softball field. Heritage Hall and Ashley Hall also have additional amenities, including pools, a fitness center, and meeting rooms.

Single-family homes are spacious, modern, and affordably priced. Buyers can select from six models with two or three bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, an attached two-car garage, and between 1,872 and 2,650 square feet. Plantation at Leesburg includes 30 separate neighborhoods with over 2,800 homes. Homeowners’ association (HOA) fees and services vary according to the home that’s purchased.

2. Kings RidgeClermont, FL

High $100s – Mid $300s

Two golf courses are available to residents at Kings Ridge in Clermont, and memberships are available for one course or both. Whether homeowners decide to play on the North Course or both the North Course and the South Course, they’ll also have access to the dazzling Royal Club with 25,000 square feet dedicated to meeting spaces, a fitness center, a sauna, a hobby room, a game room, two card rooms, and a library. There’s also an outdoor pool as well as pickleball, tennis, shuffleboard, and bocce ball courts. The North Spa clubhouse offers a steam room, a pro shop, and a couple of extra pools.

Many of the homes at this 55+ community border the golf course. Five collections of home models span the 15 cozy neighborhoods with HOAs that cover 24-hour security, basic cable costs, all lawn care, and routine exterior painting.

Floor plans offer 1,066 to 2,560 square feet, two to three bedrooms, two or two-and-a-half bathrooms, and attached garages for two or three cars. This is a golf cart-friendly community, so it’s not unusual to find a property with an extra parking space for a golf cart.

3. Summit GreensClermont, FL

High $100s – High $300s

A cozy 55+ community on the grounds of the Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club, Summit Greens offers buyers interested in Clermont homes for sale a chance to enjoy gorgeous surroundings, a challenging 18-hole course, and peaceful privacy. Residents are close to freshwater lakes, hiking trails, and the University of Central Florida has a campus right across the street.

Memberships at the golf club include access to the courses, the clubhouse, The Grill restaurant, and a pro shop. General amenities available to all residents include a clubhouse, a fitness center, tennis, both an indoor and an outdoor pool, a bar, a gazebo, and a baseball field.

The Lake Series is a collection of single-family homes in six two-bedroom, two-bathroom models. Many floor plans include a den, 1,256 to 1,806 square feet, and an attached two-car garage. The Homestead Series has three models with 1,879 to 2,179 square feet, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a den, and an attached two-car garage. Three larger models are also available in The Pinnacle Series, offering 2,238 to 2,467 square feet, two or three bedrooms, a den, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and attached garages for two or three cars.

4. BaytreeTavares, FL

Low $100s – Low $200s

Golf course living doesn’t have to be expensive in Central Florida, as evidenced by the intimate and well-landscaped 55+ community of Baytree. These homes are located in Tavares, just 10 minutes from Mt. Dora and its gorgeous lake and unique shops. The 18-hole executive golf course is bordered by 221 single-family homes and attached villas.

The villas offer two or three bedrooms and 1,004 to 1,694 square feet. Single-family homes have open floor plans, two or three bedrooms, and 810 to 2,151 square feet. All homes have attached one- or two-car garages.

In addition to golf, the residents at Baytree can spend their time engaged in club activities and social events. Social dinners and holiday parties are frequent, and there’s a golf travel league that plays at various courses throughout the area. Amenities include a clubhouse, an exercise room, a catering kitchen, and a recreation room. There’s also an outdoor pool with a spa, shuffleboard courts, and lots of open space and parks with trails that are perfect for walking, biking, or jogging.

5. Royal HighlandsLeesburg, FL

Mid $100s – Low $300s

The 18-Hole Monarch Golf Course is reason enough to buy a home at Royal Highlands, but there are other great reasons as well, especially for buyers who love nature and water. This 55+ community is surrounded by natural preserves, and it has four fishing lakes. There’s a fishing pier, boat ramps, and plenty of places to launch a canoe or a kayak. Developers set aside 35 percent of the land they purchased for conservation. This has served as an invitation for birds, butterflies, and native plants to thrive.

Many more amenities are available to Royal Highlands residents, including a fitness center, an indoor pool, and pickleball and tennis courts. There’s also an outdoor pool and a restaurant in the Great Hall.

Single-family homes are available in more than 50 models, offering two to four bedrooms, two to three bathrooms, and attached two- or three-car garages. With 1,185 to more than 2,755 square feet, there are plenty of options for buyers seeking homes for sale in Leesburg.
