Here are the four most affordable retirement communities in Coastal South Carolina.

BridgewaterMyrtle Beach

High $100s – Low $300s

Myrtle Beach’s Bridgewater is a new, large community that’s set to have a mixture of 1,550 single-family and attached homes built by Chesapeake Homes.

Residences are available as new construction with three different collections to choose from. Floor plans offer homebuyers options that range from 1,445 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms all the way up to homes with 2,944 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, and three-and-a-half baths.

The neighborhood’s list of amenities is long with a 5,000 square-foot clubhouse, state-of-the-art fitness center, great room, multipurpose rooms, and a card room. Outdoor amenities include two resort-style pools, patio, fire pit, grilling area, dog park, plus, walking and biking trails.

Cameron VillageMyrtle Beach

Mid $100s – High $200s

Cameron Village is another affordable community to consider along Coastal Carolina. The Myrtle Beach neighborhood is made up of a combination of 344 single-family and attached homes that are available as both new construction and resale.

There are two home collections within Cameron Village that offer several different designs and floor plans. Most plans range from 1,446 square feet all the way up to 3,179 square feet of living space. The smallest of the plans, the Wisteria, offers between two to three bedrooms, two baths, and a one-car garage. The largest, the Valleydale, features three bedrooms, a den, four bathrooms, and a two-car garage.

Amenities include access to the development’s clubhouse, multipurpose room, an outdoor pool, two tennis courts, basketball court, walking and biking trails. Additionally, there’s a playground on the property making it easy for residents to enjoy visits with their grandchildren.

Sun City Hilton HeadBluffton

High $100s – High $800s

As the largest 50+ community in the state of South Carolina, Sun City Hilton Head has a large selection of homes to choose from at affordable prices starting in the high $100s.

Both attached and single-family homes are available as new and resale. There are dozens of floor plans for homeowners to consider with townhomes as small as 1,000 square feet up to 4,000 square foot single-family homes.

Beyond the vast selection of home collections, Sun City Hilton Head also boasts several dozen enviable amenities for residents to enjoy. The list includes a 45-acre town center, a performing arts center, ceramics studio, art studio, sewing room, 17,000 square-foot social hall, ballroom, and computer room. There’s also a photography studio, woodworking studio, table tennis, and book exchange.

The list of outdoor amenities is just as impressive with three 18-home golf courses, four resort-style pools, over three dozen athletic courts, walking and biking trails, 20-acre fishing lake, gardening plots, playground for grandkids, plus, R.V. and boat storage.

For homeowners that want to be involved in the community there are more than 200 organized clubs and interest groups to join. A sampling of clubs includes avant gardeners, bible study, bird watching, line dancing, painting, and wood carvers.

Lakeside CrossingConway

Below $100k – High $100s

Lakeside Crossing located near Myrtle Beach in Conway is one of the most affordable active adult communities in coastal South Carolina with prices starting below $100k. It will feature 692 single-family homes new construction and resale homes upon completion.

The gated, age-restricted community has four different models to choose from that range from approximately 1,397 to 1,907 square feet of living space and have a minimum of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a den, and an attached one-car.

Lakeside amenities include a clubhouse, on-site pub, hobby and game room, ballroom, multipurpose room, a library, business center, catering kitchen, billiards, tennis courts, shuffleboard, and walking and biking trails. The development also has a state-of-the-art fitness complex with top-notch cardio and weight lifting equipment, an indoor pool, aerobics and dance studio, locker rooms, and massage therapy room.
